Operator Training

DTS provide a number of on-site operator training courses for up to six guillotine operators at a time.

Over the years we have performed thousands of courses designed to help companies ensure they meet the requirements of:

  • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992.
  • The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98).
  • The P.I.A.C. 1999 Safety Guidance.

The above regulation documents require that employers ensure their guillotine operators are competent and have been trained to understand the risks arising from the use of machines including specific operations such as knife changing and knife cleaning etc, the correct operation of controls and safeguards, the importance of safe working practices, how to carry out the daily safety checks on the machine and how to fill in the daily log.
Courses cost from £150 per operator and cover aspects including:

  • Training and safe working practices/general
  • Daily safety checks and checks following a blade change
  • Knife/blade change procedure
  • Knife alignment/including cutting stick replacement
  • Grinding angles for different material
  • Diagramatic illustration of the relationship between cutting/clamping
  • The shear bolt, it's purpose and replacement
